We'll be introducing your members to our ROES online enlargement ordering system and demonstrating how pro lab enlargements are made with today's cutting edge digital technology. By the end of this visit your members should be able to use ROES with the same skill sets as many of our professional photographers. Like the pros, they will understand just how easy it is to get better enlargements...particularly for competitions...by working "smarter" rather than harder.

ROES, short for Remote Order Entry System, is the #1 design/lab ordering system used by America's pros. It gives photographers the ability to quickly crop their photographs and get Photoshop-type effects with just the click of a mouse. ROES simplifies the process so that photographers can concentrate on creativity rather than getting bound up in the technical details of making an enlargement. The ROES software provides an easy-to-apply user interface that links directly to the power of Kodak's DP2 professional software in our laboratory. This produces a perfect match of the digital camera image to the color science in Kodak's professional photographic papers and gives photographers professional rather than consumer-grade enlargements. (We have the only laboratory in Southeast Florida with ROES software and DP2 capability.)

Our goal will be to give your members the ability to order and receive enlargements as good as any pro! We're also going to make this visit fun. So, please don't worry about our seminar being "over the head" of any of your members. Everyone will leave feeling good about what he or she has learned.

Assuming the 30 - 40 people you and I discussed, we will probably split the group in two. One group will go to a ROES tutorial with David. David will start with the simple basics of ordering. Then he'll go into design tips that will give everyone an understanding of just how easy it is to create outstanding composite enlargements. (Composites are enlargements with multiple pictures, type and special, visual effects.)

The second group will stay with me in the lab while I demonstrate how big enlargements are made from their digital camera files.

Each participant will receive a complimentary 14" x 20" or 16" x 20" color enlargement. All we would ask is that each member bring a single JPEG file on a CD-R (sorry, no TIFFs, PSDs or RAW files). Ideally, the files should be either uncorrected camera files or images that have been converted from RAW to JPEG. We will do all color correction in the laboratory (with participation from your members.)

Please plan on arriving at 10:30 AM. We will break for a one hour lunch at about 12:30. Club members can sample some of our local Hollywood restaurants or the excellent sandwiches at the Sub Cafe just around the corner.

After lunch the groups will change over, with the morning lab group going upstairs for David's mini-seminar and his group joining me in the lab.

Members who wish to use ROES to order competition prints prior to your visit can do so by downloading our software from the site. Then, they can order their enlargements from the Standard Catalog (Matte Prints). They should click on the Enlargements tab and then on the 11" x 14" or 12" x 18" graphic. Members can order center mounting of their print on a black board (consistent with your club rules) by clicking on the Options button and then checking the box for this mounting. In-lab time is about two days. Prints can either be picked up at our store or mailed. Local delivery is usually either the next day or within two days.

Photographers who don't feel all that comfortable on computers can order their prints using our consumer-oriented online site at www.iprints.com. They should order matte prints and indicate the center mounting in the Special Instructions area. (Pricing is the same as on our iPrintsPro/ROES site.) For the computer-phobic the easiest approach is to just visit our Hollywood store and let us set up the enlarging order for them.
