Florida Renaissance Festival 2010 First Trip
On Sunday, February 14th at 12:00 pm South Florida Camera Club will be attending the 18th annual Florida Renaissance Festival at Quiet Waters Park in Deerfield Beach, Florida.
This event is perfect for making candid photographs of people dressed in renaissance era costumes. Browse through an enchanted crafts village where over one hundred merchants and artisans demonstrate and sell their wares. Behold glass blowing, hammered pewter, wooden toys, unique pottery, clothing and a wealth of other riches. Click your shutters at battling knights, as they mount their steeds, lower their visors, aim their lances and charge at full tilt. Photograph hundreds of performers, not only on our twelve stages, but literally all around you are sword fighters, minstrels, magicians, mud-beggars, wenches and more.
If you have any trouble finding us at the park you can call Danny Hammontree at 954-667-3840. I’ll be leading up this trip and will be the person to contact if you can’t find our group.
Lake Worth Street Painting Festival
On Saturday, February 20th, 2010 at 12:00 PM, South Florida Camera Club will be going to the Lake Worth Street Painting Festival. If you have any trouble finding the South Florida Camera Club clan once you get there, just give me a call at 954-667-3840.
Watch and photograph as over 400 Artists use the pavement as canvas to transform downtown Lake Worth into a temporary outdoor museum of original art and masterpiece reproductions. Watch the streets come alive as the artists transform the pavement into works of art. Continuous live music and children’s activities are also featured.
Traced back to 16th century Italy when itinerant artists would use their chalks to transform pavement into a makeshift canvas, street painting has retained its appeal through the centuries. As in ages past, crowds still gather to watch as fine works of art emerge. The “paintings” last only until the next rain, but the lively spirit and accessibility of the exhibition captivates new audiences each year and inspires lasting memories.
Downtown Lake Worth and the Greater Lake Worth Chamber of Commerce invite you to the annual Street Painting Festival, which claims bragging rights as the country’s largest. The 2-day event transforms the downtown streets with more than 200 street paintings sponsored by businesses, organizations, families and individuals, covering more area than any other festival of its kind in the U.S. Hundreds of artists converge to display their diverse talents on the asphalt – using only chalk – in styles that range from Renaissance classicism to Cubism and Pop Art. Street performers, strolling minstrels and Main stage musical entertainment add to the creative atmosphere. And of course, don’t miss the Festival Food Courts, accommodating culinary tastes and thirsts as diverse as the surrounding artwork.

The Big Party!
“The Big Party” is almost here (February 27th, 2010 @ 7pm) and we need to know if you’ll be coming. This party will be celebrating our three year anniversary as well as being the party where the winner of “Best Photo of the Year” finds out they’ll be taking home a brand new Nikon D300s or Canon EOS 7D!
The party will be a pot-luck extravaganza, so we ask that you bring a yummy meal that is your special signature dish. Home cooking is where it’s at, but if you can’t do it home style, a platter from Publix or like store will be fine. We also ask that you bring your own booze (beer/wine/hard stuff).
Everyone that is or has been a South Florida Camera Club member is invited to this awesome party! If you have not received an email invite to this party yet, please email me at southfloridacameraclub {at} gmail(.)com to let me know. I will need everyone to RSVP me with the name of your guest and the dish you’ll be bringing. I will need all RSVPs to be in by February 21st, 2010.
“The Big Party” will again take place at the home of Joe and Donna McBroom. When I receive your RSVP I will then send you the address and directions to get to their lovely home.
