Academy of Glam Models Photoshoot
On Thursday, September 2nd from 7:30 till 10:00 South Florida Camera Club will be going to the Academy of Glam in Cooper City for a model photography extravaganza!
One of the many aspects of Academy of Glam is the ability to build your portfolio, weather you’re a model, a make-up artist or a photographer, the Academy of Glam is set up to help you further your goals!
On this very special Thursday evening, several make-up artists will be doing several different looks on several different models just for us to photograph! We will have all of the Academy of Glam to use as our own photo studio complete with lighting, wardrobe and many props to make your photos exactly what you want. Tracy Mendy will be helping those of us that need a little help with posing the models and instructing us what to look for before pressing the shutter release.

Gallery Night at UNCOMMON Gallery
The second Friday of every month is “Gallery Night” at UNCOMMON Gallery in Fort Lauderdale. Meet other artists and enjoy their work in this unique atmosphere. Also enjoy sandwiches, cheese, wine and deserts throughout the evening. This is a great opportunity for South Florida Camera Club members to get together and socialize. Please bring your friends and help spread the word.
UNCOMMON Gallery is an alternative, casual style gallery promoting arts with a collection of images that explore all areas and styles of artistic expression. Michael D. Colanero is the proprietor of UNCOMMON Gallery and is also a nationally recognized artist, illustrator and designer.
If you’re an artist interested in promoting your work, increasing your visibility, and looking for more opportunities for potential sale, you can have Michael give you a portfolio review to start the process for gallery exhibit consideration. Fashion for a Cause benefiting “No More Tears”
South Florida Camera Club will be attending “Fashion for a Cause” benefiting “No More Tears” On Saturday, September 11th from 8:00 till 11:00 PM at Posh Lounge in Fort Lauderdale. This will be one of those events that you’ll really want to have your camera with you!
No More Tears, who also partners with Women in Distress of Broward County, is a non-for-profit organization with a focus on helping women in the United States who are victims of spousal abuse. You can visit www.nmtproject.org for more information.
The fashion show will be featuring Somy Ali of So-Me Designs. So-Me was founded with two goals in mind. First goal is to raise awareness about social issues through fashion, the second is to raise money for global humanitarian issues. Also featured at the fashion show will be South Florida Camera Club member Bonnie McCabe who uses innovative digital art and creates unique one of a kind art ware clothing.
The donation fee to enter this awesome event will be $25 which also includes two free drink tickets. Net proceeds of this donation will go to the No More Tears project.

September 2010 Photographic Competition
On Thursday September 16th at 7:30pm we’ll be having our photographic competition for the month. You can find all the rules for the competition by clicking on the “Competition Rules” link in the top left had corner of our website.
Theme: Painting With Light - It has often been said that shooting with available light means use any light available. From table lamps to flashlights, daylight to moonlight, use what is at your disposal to paint your subject with light.
The selected winning photograph for each monthly competition will be framed by Frame Gallery and will then be displayed in UNCOMMON Gallery for a month. The photographer whose photo wins the year end Grand Prize competition will have a choice of selecting either a: Nikon D300s! Or a Canon 7D!
Dialect at Brew Urban Café (Photography Exhibit)
On Thursday, September 30th starting at 8:00 PM South Florida Camera Club members Tracy Mendy, Kara Lynn Starzyk and Danny Hammontree will be showing their photography at Brew Urban Café in Downtown Fort Lauderdale for “Dialect.”
Everyone at South Florida Camera Club is invited to come celebrate the personal expression of your fellow SFCC members including myself!
This day just happens to be my 40th birthday as well, and it would make me especially happy to have everyone come out and celebrate with me at this event!
