Guest Speaker Tom Muñoz of Muñoz Photography
On Thursday, April 1st 2010 @ 7:30 PM South Florida Camera Club will be presenting Tom Muñoz of Muñoz Photography! Learn how Master Photographer Tom Muñoz creates award-winning images time after time. This high-energy program is packed full of posing, lighting and the essence of wedding photography.
Tom is a fourth generation photographer, and it shows in his work. He’s taken the old-world technical knowledge of lighting and the latest haute couture style that has captivated today’s brides. Tom started his photography career at seven years old, working as his father’s assistant at weddings. After his high school graduation, he joined the Professional Photographers of America and Florida Professional Photographers. He started studying with photographers all over the world. He earned his PPA’s Master of Photography degree at the age of 21, with only three years of competition behind him.
Tom began his lecturing career once he received his Masters, with a platform program at PPA’s National Convention. Since then, he’s been a speaker at various state and national conventions also earning him his Craftsmen Degree. Tom Muñoz is one of the highest-awarded wedding photographers in the U.S. He earned the Best in Show awards in the Wedding Album and Wedding Portrait categories, along with First, Second, and Third Place in Wedding Albums and First Place in Wedding Portraits. He had all four of his entries accepted in PPA’s Loan Collection in 2007 and 2008, earning him the Diamond Photographer of the Year award two years in a row. Tom also was awarded PPA’s coveted Image Excellence award in 2009.
Muñoz Photography is one of the prominent studios in South Florida. Tom, with his father and three brothers, photograph about 250 weddings each year. The studio also maintains a busy family and baby portraiture business.
This presentation is free for South Florida Camera Club paid members. If you’re not a paid club member, this presentation will be $40.00. Gallery Night at UNCOMMON Gallery
The second Friday of every month is “Gallery Night” at UNCOMMON Gallery in Fort Lauderdale. Meet other artists and enjoy their work in this unique atmosphere. Also enjoy sandwiches, cheese, wine and deserts throughout the evening. This is a great opportunity for South Florida Camera Club members to get together and socialize. Please bring your friends and help spread the word.
UNCOMMON Gallery is an alternative, casual style gallery promoting arts with a collection of images that explore all areas and styles of artistic expression. Michael D. Colanero is the proprietor of UNCOMMON Gallery and is also a nationally recognized artist, illustrator and designer.

April 2010 Photographic Competition
On Thursday April 15th at 7:30pm we’ll be having our photographic competition for the month. You can find all the rules for the competition by clicking on the “Competition Rules” link in the top left had corner of our website.
Theme: Self Portrait - How do you see yourself? Let your creativity reign as you create an image of yourself to share with the world.
The selected winning photograph for each monthly competition will be framed by Frame Gallery and will then be displayed in UNCOMMON Gallery for a month. The photographer whose photo wins the year end Grand Prize competition will have a choice of selecting either a: Nikon D300s! Or a Canon 7D!
Iceland Volcano Workshop with Seth Resnick
Seth Resnick will be having a once in a lifetime workshop at the newly erupted volcano in Iceland from April 28th thru May 4th, 2010. Not only will you have the best guides in Iceland, you will also have helicopters and special glacier vehicles to capture the best possible photographs!
The majority of the workshop will be spent shooting the dramatic volcano eruption in the south of Iceland and the neighboring area. The workshop will also consist of photographing icebergs on the glacier lagoon on the south east coast. Seth will also try and get the workshop into the ice caves if they are approachable.
This workshop is limited to 12 participants and the cost for the workshop will be $6450.00 including all access to the volcano. The photo below was just photographed and is an example of what you can expect!
