Resilience & Rejuvenation, or How to Last & Love What You Do

Don’t miss Seth Resnick as he gives his incisive insights on the technology, business and creative aspects of the photo industry today. Do you ever find yourself in a creative rut, simply shooting cookie-cutter assignments or projects? Even with an arsenal of current technology, the best computer, and the most current edition of Photoshop, your work can suffer if you lose that spark of inspiration that we all need. How do you rejuvenate yourself and get excited once again about picking up your camera? This event with Canon Explorer of Light Seth Resnick may be just what the doctor ordered!

Join us as Seth shares anecdotes on dealing with clients, both for assignment and stock, favorite and most unusual projects and what drove him to tackle them, his observations on the state of the industry and his take on stock photography. What are some of the most powerful lessons Seth has learned in his photographic career? How has he transformed from a fledgling newspaper photographer into the industry icon he is now? And finally, what jazzes Seth about taking out his camera today? How does he recharge his creative batteries?

photo MIAMI 2009 Midtown Miami Wynwood Arts District

sfcc_2009_photo_mami.jpgOn Saturday, December 5th 2009 at 11:00 AM, South Florida Camera Club will be attending photo MIAMI 2009 in Miami’s Wynwood Arts District. Our photography club has attended this event for the past two years and it has been an incredible inspirational experience both years! I encourage everyone to make a special point of attending this amazing photography fair.

Now in its fourth year, photo MIAMI, the acclaimed contemporary international fair of photo-based art, video, and new media, returns in a new, 30,000 square foot venue at NW 34th Street and North Miami Avenue (at the former Circuit City Building) in Miami’s Wynwood Arts District and coincides with Art Basel Miami Beach.

The fair’s new location is strategically positioned in Miami’s midtown arts corridor. photo MIAMI is on the main thoroughfare for all of the major satellite fairs in Miami, as well as the Rubell Family Collection and the new warehouse for the Rosa and Carlos de la Cruz Collection, which will open that week.

Photo MIAMI 2009 Curatorial Theme:
The transformation and dissolution of societal structures worldwide has left humanity wondering, what’s next? Magic, perhaps, where mystery and creativity intersect?

Conceptual art, long dependent on historical canon, has lost sway, while the ability to imagine-and to re-imagine-has gained ground. Turning a collective gaze to the future as well as the unknown, we embrace a trinity of visual languages-photography, video and new media -as contemporary tools for defining value and meaning in this new world order. Whether appropriated from the depths of popular culture or simply beyond the reflections of mass media, photo MIAMI 2009 seeks to explore photography, video and new media-tools simultaneously commonplace and innovative in their capacity to tell our stories-as the evolving aesthetic, conceptual and imaginative change agents of the moment.

Admission Fee.
The general admission price is $20, Students and seniors are $15 and entrance for children under 12 is free. From what I have read the tickets are valid for reentry throughout the duration of the fair. If you have any trouble finding the event or our group you can contact me “Danny Hammontree” on my cell @ 305-905-4122.
