Guest Speaker Nancy Brown
South Florida Camera Club is very pleased to announce professional photographer and our guest speaker for December 2008 Nancy Brown.
Nancy has been a commercial photographer for over thirty years. After working out of New York City for twenty-five years, she is now working out of her studio in Boca Raton, Florida. Her clients include ad agencies, magazines, design firms, book publishers, and pharmaceutical agencies.
Nancy specializes in people/lifestyle and travel photography. Traveling to wonderful places has always been a big part of Nancy’s life and she feels very lucky to be able to combine her love of traveling with her love of photography. She has had three photography books published and the last one “Nude and Beauty Photography” can be purchased on Amazon.
Teaching has also been a big part of Nancy’s career and she has done workshops and seminars all over the world and does “one to ones” in her studio and in locations in Florida all year long.
PHOTO MIAMI 2008
On Sunday, December 7th 2008 at 11am South Florida Camera Club will be going to Photo MIAMI, the leading international contemporary art fair for photo-based art, video and new media in the Wynwood Art Distric
photo MIAMI 2008 will showcase works by over 200 contemporary artists at the 40,000 sq. ft. marquee structure located at NW 31st Street and North Miami Avenue, steps away from the Rubell Family Collection and the developing Midtown Miami district. Over 60 new and established galleries will present highly anticipated works- many that will be seen in the U.S. for the first time. photo MIAMI 2008 will also have a dedicated Solo Projects section.
I went to this event last year and it was INCREDIBLE! This is an event none of us in the camera club should miss.

TYE Studios “Permission to Shoot” shoot-a-thon
TYE Studios “Permission to Shoot” is a four hour shoot-a-thon for photographers of every level. There will be multiple shooting sets and four to five models provided for you to photograph. This event is perfect for building your portfolio, and networking with other photographers and models.
“Permission to Shoot” takes place the second Tuesday of every month from 6:30pm till 10:30pm, and is only $99 to attend. This is not a photography class. It is simply a chance for you to exercise your camera, practice your craft, and have fun. Pizza and beverages will also be provided. This event is limited to 20 photographers, so sign up quickly!

Gallery Night at UNCOMMON Gallery
The second Friday of every month is “Gallery Night” at UNCOMMON Gallery in Fort Lauderdale. Meet other artists and enjoy their work in this unique atmosphere. Also enjoy sandwiches, cheese, wine and deserts throughout the evening. This is a great opportunity for South Florida Camera Club members to get together and socialize. Please bring your friends and help spread the word.
UNCOMMON Gallery is an alternative, casual style gallery promoting arts with a collection of images that explore all areas and styles of artistic expression. Michael D. Colanero is the proprietor of UNCOMMON Gallery and is also a nationally recognized artist, illustrator and designer.
If you’re an artist interested in promoting your work, increasing your visibility, and looking for more opportunities for potential sale, you can have Michael give you a portfolio review to start the process for gallery exhibit consideration. Ho HO Ho-liday Party
On Wednesday December 17th starting at 6pm, our very own South Florida Camera Club member Tracy Mendy will be hosting the Ho HO Ho-liday Party at Taverna EROS in Delray Beach.
Everyone from South Florida Camera Club are invited to come and celebrate the holiday season. Please bring along your friends and significant others as well! Drinks will be two-for-one all night if you come dressed in holiday attire! You’ll also be able to have your photo taken with “sexy Santa and his helpers”, all donations will go to Toys for Tots.

December’s Competition
On Thursday December 18th at 7pm we’ll be having our photographic competition for the month. You can find all the rules for the competition by clicking on the “Competition Rules” link in the top left had corner of our website.
The selected winning photograph for each monthly competition will be framed by Frame Gallery and will then be displayed in UNCOMMON Gallery for a month. The photographer whose photo wins the year end Grand Prize competition will have a choice of selecting either a: Nikon D300! Or a Canon 50D!
Theme: April - Open.
Compete this month using your favorite photograph in any category. Animals, Plants, Nature, Architecture, People, Portraits, Still Life, Urban, Rural, Macro, Photojournalism, Documentary, Street, Sports, Weddings, Landscapes, Birds, Artistic Nudes, Conceptual, Abstract, Surreal, and anything else you can think of are all welcome in this competition.
