First Meeting of January 2008
We are pleased to announce that professional photographer Jerry Rabinowitz will be coming to South Florida Camera Club for our first meeting of 2008! This meeting will take place January 3rd at 7pm. The address is listed below and you can click on the address to view a map of the location.
Jerry Rabinowitz has been a professional photographer for almost 30 years, and specializes in architecture and architectural based themes. His clients include national and regional magazines, corporate and advertising clientele. Jerry was a large format photographer for many years, but Jerry’s workflow has since become 100% digital. Jerry was president of ASMP (American Society of Media Photographers) in New Mexico, and lectured for Fujifilm. He now teaches lighting at Palm Beach Photographic Centre.
As a photographer, I always wonder why I shoot what I do, says Jerry. At the meeting Jerry will explore the process involved in image creation. Jerry states that “in the digital world megapixels, algorithms and workflow seem to rule”, and ask “Does the technical dominate or is the image the destination?” Jerry will also discuss architectural photography, as well as a look at the decision process in photography.

Andre Rowe of TYE Studios and David Farkas of Dale Labs will be our teachers and will cover everything having to do with photographing in a professional studio, lighting equipment and camera techniques. You will need to meet at the studio back door promptly at 7:00pm. You can see a map of the location by clicking on the address below.

Art Deco Weekend
On Sunday January 20th 2008 at 10:00am, South Florida Camera Club will be going to South Beach for Art Deco Weekend. Art Deco Weekend 2008 will celebrate the exuberant, toe-tapping Broadway musicals of the 1930s and 40s. When Broadway met Art Deco, the result was an exciting blend of art, industry, beauty, and glamour. The emerging Art Deco movement inspired stagecraft, costume and scenic design, choreography, and more. The weekend will feature special musical performances inspired by classic musicals of both stage and screen. There will be many Musicians, Street Performers and interesting people attending for us to photograph. It will be a good idea to get to Miami Beach a little bit early so parking is easy to find. We will be meeting on 10th street and Ocean Drive at 10:00am. If you have any problems finding our group you can call Joe Paul on his cell: 954-536-0567.
