On this very special Thursday evening, several make-up artists will be doing several different looks on several different models just for us to photograph! We will have all of the Academy of Glam to use as our own photo studio complete with lighting, wardrobe and many props to make your photos exactly what you want. Tracy Mendy will be helping those of us that need a little help with posing the models and instructing us what to look for before pressing the shutter release.

Any photograph that has ever captured your attention is the bi-product of correctly executed compositional and lighting technique. Techniques that affect you, the viewer, psychologically. This is why certain photos stand out in your mind long after you have viewed them. Manny’s seminar teaches you some of those rules but more importantly Manny will teach why they work, the psychology. This empowers you to not just use any rule but specific rules that are congruent with what you are trying to express. It is the difference between shooting an arrow in the air and hitting something or shooting the arrow and hitting the bulls-eye!

At 18 years old and in High School, Manny started out as an apprentice to photographer and custom color printer David West. Just three months into his 3 year apprenticeship Manny won his first Blue Ribbon (First Place) at the Professional Photographers Association of New Jersey, BPH Chapter.

Soon after, he became Print Chairman in charge of print competition for three consecutive years. In 1980, after winning many local awards, Manny won The Fassbender Award at the Atlantic City Convention of the Professional Photographers of New Jersey. At 22 years old he was the youngest to receive this prestigious award.

Manny has also been a member of the Professional Photographers of America, Professional Photographers of North Eastern Pennsylvania, and Professional Photographers of Greater New York, where he continued to receive awards for his photographic excellence. As a result, he lectured to other professionals at local and statewide meetings. When he lived in New Jersey some of his commercial accounts were Unilever Brothers, Prudential Securities N.Y., Prudential Bache Great Britton, YKK Zippers, Corporate Express.

In 1993 he received a “Certified Professional Photographer” degree with the Professional Photographers of America. At that time there were only eleven photographers in the entire state of New Jersey to receive this distinction.

In 2005 he held a photo exhibit at the Pasco Arts Council. Opening night, he was received by a standing room only crowd. Manny broke all their attendance records as well as sales records. Besides having his own photography business Manny finds time to conduct major seminars throughout Florida and has been a guest speaker at numerous amateur photo clubs.

The evening will begin with Sam Robles teaching and showing you what you can do with an inexpensive lighting kit in a studio setting or even in your own home studio. Then Tracy Mendy will teach and show examples of posing models for fashion shoots. Fashion models will be provided for examples and for you to photograph after the lessons.

We know that many of our members have very little to zero experience photographing in studio, with lighting, and with posing models. Because of that, this workshop will begin at a very basic level so us new to this type of photography will not get lost.

We are very grateful to Sam Robles for hosting this event at his studio. Sam stated to me that we are welcome to stay as late into the night as we need in order to practice the techniques we have learned in this workshop. I know many of us work the following day, but for those of you that need little sleep or don’t work the following day, you are more than welcome to stay and shoot!

Who is Seth Resnick?
On the creative front, Seth Resnick has been published in the world’s most prestigious magazines. His credits include over 2500 publications worldwide and his clients constitute a virtual list of corporate America. He is greatly in demand for his beautiful graphic images in both natural and created light. He is a leader in the creative, business and educational sectors of photography.
Seth is Co-founder of D-65. D-65 is at the forefront of digital, working with companies like Adobe, Canon, and Xrite, uniquely qualifying Seth to speak about the new role of digital technologies in the changing world of photography. Seth Resnick is a gifted lecturer who combines inspiration, business acumen, creativity and technological expertise. Seth is a member of the prestigious Canon Explorer of Light program as well as an Alpha/Beta and feature consultant for Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom and a X-Rite Colorati. He travels extensively presenting the various aspects of photography, and is also the former President of Editorial Photographers, a trade organization dedicated to the promotion of sound business practices for editorial photography. Seth is also a founding partner of PixelGenius developing Photoshop plug-ins and software and a regular contributing columnist to a variety of trade publications. Seth Resnick and partner Jamie Spritzer are the authors of a new book called The Photoshop Lightroom Workbook: Workflow not Workslow in Lightroom 3.
