July’s Photographic Competition Winners
Congratulations to one of South Florida Camera Club’s newest members James D. McCallum Jr. for taking first place in July’s photography competition. Under the theme “Reflections”, James photo entitled “Millennium Reflection” of the Cloud Gate sculpture at Millennium Park in Chicago was the overwhelming winner. Second place was tied between Jack Levy with his photograph entitled “Orange in Droplets” and Jessica Lopera with her photograph entitled “Passage”. Third place was taken by Keith LeBlanc with his photograph entitled “Sunrise Reflection”.
James is now eligible to win a brand new Nikon D300 or Canon 40D at the end of the year competition for “Best Photograph of the Year”. His photograph is being framed by Frame Gallery in Fort Lauderdale, and will hang in UNCOMMON Gallery throughout the month of August. Make sure to attend the Gallery Night Party on August 8th to see James’s print is all its glory.

Podcast of the Month
There’s a really good podcast that I’ve been listening to called This Week in Photography or “TWiP” for short. If you’re at all interested in listening to a podcast about photography, this is the best one going.
Flickr
Many of us are using Flickr for an online photography community and to show off our photos. I highly recommend using Flickr as your online gallery and linking to it from this site. I also created a South Florida Camera Club group within Flickr for club members. This will be a lot of fun for us to see what everyone is doing and will also allow us to communicate in the forum. Please join the group if you haven’t already and check out Flickr if you haven’t yet. Check out my gallery to see how it looks.
