SFCC News for 25-June-2008
Congratulations to our very own “VOK” Steve Wilkinson for taking first place in June’s photographic competition. Competing under the theme “Documentary Photojournalism”, Steve’s photograph entitled “Free Speech Zone” of a man protesting at the Organization of American States in Fort Lauderdale was the decisive winner. Coming in second place was Jill Kossin with her photograph entitled “Atonement”. Rolfe Ross took third place with his photograph entitled “CIW march on Burger King” .
Steve is now eligible to win a brand new Nikon D300 or Canon 40D at the end of the year competition for “Best Photograph of the Year”. His photograph is being framed by Frame Gallery in Fort Lauderdale, and will hang in UNCOMMON Gallery throughout the month of July. Make sure to attend the Gallery Night Party on July 11th to see Steve’s print is all its glory.
Our travel log presenters for June were Joe Paul and Bradley Rex. Joe’s travel log was from his trip to Ireland and Bradley presented a log from his trip to Puerto Rico. If you’re interested in presenting a slide show of one of your travels, please contact Elaine Fitzgerald prior to the second meeting of the month. Elaine can be reached at 954-956-8999.
There’s a really good podcast that I’ve been listening to called This Week in Photography or “TWiP” for short. If you’re at all interested in listening to a podcast about photography, this is the best one going.
